Shaggy performed with Sting at the Grammys but it was a different “Sting” that helped him rise to fame.  Shaun Pizzonia’s nickname is also Sting.  He was a DJ and studio engineer and he helped Shaggy get a job at Phillip Smart’s studio, a renowned engineer and producer.  Shaggy recorded his debut single “Mampie” at Smart’s HC&F studio.

In 1993, Shaggy released his hit “Oh Carolina” which was featured on his debut album, Pure Pleasure.  His breakout album, Boombastic was released on July 11, 1995.  It went platinum and earned Shaggy a Grammy.  He has released 12 albums and many consider him the biggest crossover success in dancehall reggae.

Despite decades of success, Shaggy continues to work hard.  His joint album with Sting, 44/876 is scheduled to release on April 20, 2018.
