Floyd Mayweather Donates To Houston? $200 Million?

The rumor that Floyd Mayweather Jr. donated $200 million to Houston is false.  The story was posted by a fake news site.  Hurricane Harvey has created catastrophic flooding in Houston and I'm sure Mayweather will donate some money.  Mayweather was guaranteed $100 million for his fight with Conor McGregor before sponsorship and Pay Per View money is divided.

Many believe that Floyd will make more than $300 million total for his fight against Conor McGregor.  That's more than some of the world's most popular athletes make throughout their entire careers.  Some of Floyd's earnings will be going to the IRS.  A few months ago, multiple media outlets reported that the boxer owes the IRS $22 million.

When you're bringing home $300 million checks, why wouldn't you pay the IRS? Mayweather has participated in four of the highest grossing boxing matches of all time.  His fight with McGregor generated $500 million while his 2015 fight against Manny Pacquiao generated $410 million.

Mayweather's 2013 fight against Canelo Alvarez generated $150 million and his 2007 fight against Oscar De La Hoya generated $140 million.
