In 1999, Mase released his sophomore album, Double Up. The album went gold a month after it was released but then Mase decide to become a pastor. Hip-hop wasn't the same after Biggie was murdered. Snoop, Gorgeous Gangsta and Sofi Green chose a great song to pay homage to Mase and Bad Boy Records.

One year before Biggie was murdered, Tupac Shakur was killed in Las Vegas, Nevada. The two best rappers of the 90s, and arguably all-time, didn't make it through the 90s. Rappers, like Mase, were left clueless about their futures. The hip-hop industry was too dangerous at the time, leading Mase to make his decision to retire and become a pastor.
