Is John Amos Dead?

John Amos is alive, not dead.  The Good Times actor recently listed his New Jersey home for sale.  He's hoping to get $430K for the ranch home located in Tewksbury Township.  Amos purchased the house in 1990 for $337,500.  The home needs to be restored and may have been an investment property.  On December 27, 2016, he celebrated his 77th birthday.

John Amos is best known for his role as James Evans, Sr. on Good Times.  The show paved the way for black television programs like Empire.  It was one of the first television shows to feature a mostly black cast.  While Empire features a wealthy black family, Good Times explored the struggles of a poor black family.

In the saddest episode of Good Times, Florida Evans finds out that her husband, James, had died.  Similar to Cookie Lyon, Florida was the strong black mother who kept the family together.  Despite her strength, she had a breakdown in her kitchen.

Fans of the series couldn't understand why Amos' character died.  It turns out, the show's creator, Norman Lear, didn't appreciate Amos' negative comments about the show.  John didn't like how the show focused on J.J.'s one-liners instead of the show's other characters.  As a result, he was fired.
